Rex's Junk Hunt

Rex's Junk Hunt was my second attempt at 48 hour game making, this time for Ludum Dare a contest where you must make a game all on your own in 48 hours. This game was for LD16 and the theme was Exploration.

Rex's Junk Hunt was a game created for the 16th Ludum Dare, which is a 48 hour game jam. Having previously participated in the Global Game Jam 09 I was really looking forward to taking part in this event too.

Similar to the GGJ you are given a theme when the competition starts in which you have 48 hours to make a game based around it. The main difference it has with the GGJ is you must create the game all by yourself, so programming, art, and sound all done by yourself. Which I must say is quite a challenge.

So after 48 hours of food, and a little sleep I managed to create Rex's Junk Hunt, which was my first game created solely by myself in Game Maker in 48 hours. There were slight issues with the game itself, involving the flow of gameplay, repetitiveness and lack of accomplishment, but for 48 hours' worth of work I was happy with it, while acknowledging the flaws like you always should. I wrote up a post-mortem which can be found on my blog here which just goes into detail on the pros and cons of it all.
