Three Hundred and Fifty Seven: Another new tee!

I bought this one some time ago and it finally arrived, if there's one thing I do find annoying is that most of the companies that print them are based in America so they take forever to make their way to me.

However I received this one just in time for Christmas and it also came with the cutest sticker.

Three Hundred and Fifty Six: A Christmasy evening

So as a sort of precursor to my impending delicious Christmas dinner that I'll be having with my family on Christmas day, I thought I'd have a go at doing my own.

Although as I had to cook it straight after work and do a whole list of other things I couldn't really cook a whole chicken so I settled instead for a pheasant with a small array of roast vegetables.

Overall it turned out very nice, although the best of show had to of been my stuffing, I can make it taste just like my mum's which is great!

Three Hundred and Fifty Five: A magic evening

A game I have never played before is Magic the Gathering, I've known loads of people who have played it, and some who were very into it, but it never really crossed my path before now, or at least I was never asked to play a game.

It may sound sad but I was very into playing Pokemon when I was younger I was in a league and played in tournaments, although I wasn't that good at it to be honest and I preferred Pokemon cards for the collecting aspect plus the artistic value of the cards as some of them looked great.

I must say even though I was sure if I would, I really enjoyed magic and I'm looking forward to building myself a strong Red deck to play a few games with friends.

Three Hundred and Fifty Four: Once again the TMNT are awesome!

Another awesome t-shirt from the lovely Qwertee, I don't really own many green t-shirts but I really do like the shade that was printed in, plus it features the cutest versions of the turtles ever.

Three Hundred and Fifty Three: Ludum Dare 22 day three: Alone

Sadly as I presumed I didn't manage to finish the game in the 48 hours, so instead I'm entering the Jam as my back up as I didn't want to end without a game. So in order to get the last few images I needed complete I gave myself until this evening to get it finished which I did and I even managed to fix a bug that I saw no way of fixing.

Overall I wasn't hugely happy with my game, it could have been more inventive or at least contain a little more in terms of gameplay. However I was quite happy with the look of the mole and insects, as at first I didn't think they'd look that great but they turned out ok. If you'd like to give it a play you can find a link to the download here

Of course the Global Game Jam is next on the horizon and then there'll be the next Ludum Dare #23 in April.

Three Hundred and Fifty Two: Ludum Dare 22 day two: Alone

Day two is now well ahead, I'm having a few issues with a few things such as keeping some UI on screen and a few things just generally not working properly.

I honestly can't see it all being finished in time for the deadline as I've got a fair amount of art left to do. Usually I'll start the art on the first day and have some scripting left to do on the last day however I seem to have done it all a little differently this time.

The game itself is very simple and almost all works at this stage, and all of the art assets within the game are there. There are just a lot of UI screens missing and a few bugs floating around. Otherwise it's almost complete and I'll at least have finished a game unlike for LD#21 Escape where I didn't manage to finish it and didn't have time to take part in the Jam.

For dinner I made myself another pizza but a simpler one, along with an amazing cherry clafoutis to round off the evening.

I'm hoping for the next Ludum Dare that I'll finish my game for the compo instead of the Jam, which I'm sure will be possible, I'll just have to make sure to get a little less sleep.

Three Hundred and Fifty One: Ludum Dare 22 day one: Alone

So the theme for this month's Ludum Dare isn't what I really wanted, however you can't pick and choose when the theme is voted on. The winner this time round was Alone, creating a variety of circumstances a game can be centred and themed around.

Sadly as it's the winter I couldn't have my usual raspberries with yoghurt so once I'd come up with my game idea I allowed myself some pancakes, so I found a new recipe which ended up being nice and sugary, and made a load of pancakes.

My idea is based around Coast moles and how they keep themselves solitary, the game itself isn't too far along yet, and I’m mainly getting it working first. However I seem to be having a few issues with getting the game working in HTML5 but it's coming along nicely. I can't see the game being overly complex or much when it comes to gameplay sadly.

Dinner wise I really wanted to use my slow cooker and put on a nice bit of meat, but I couldn't really allow myself to leave the house to pick anything up from sainsburys so instead I made myself a lovely pizza.

Three Hundred and Fifty: Trine 2 time!

While it's getting closer and closer to the Christmas holidays, less and less games are released, of course nothing else is coming out as later as SWOTR on the 20th. Except they've made it so you can buy the game earlier and it's just that the servers go live on the 20th.

Well it's the 16th today and Trine 2 has been released on PC, it has been available on Steam since last Friday, however unfortunately the retail release had been slightly delayed.

Trine 2 is a sequel to Trine (of course) but adds in a few new features to make it more player friendly for those who like playing with friends. It now has added co-op support so a friend can take on the role of the thief, wizard or knight and help you out. Instead of playing through all the characters on your own.

Plus if you pick up the retail release you can look forward to a nice little art book, a copy of Trine for steam and a soundtrack.

Trine 2 is also available on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade as well if you're interested in picking it up.
